Supplier Quality Engineer Job at PAC Worldwide
Description
With focus on Quality, the Supplier Quality Engineer is responsible for providing technical leadership for material suppliers to PAC Worldwide. This includes supporting sourcing initiatives, qualifications, and audits in conjunction with Procurement, Engineering, and Operations. This role will also be responsible for verification, data analysis, and corrective actions for our existing suppliers and using supplier performance feedback to focus on continuous improvement.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities
- Material specifications, technical standards, and analytical equipment for the evaluation, verification, and disposition of materials
- Analyzing statistical data to develop functional specifications to establish reliable and consistent materials
- Targeting levels of material Quality that exceed both internal and external expectations of reliability and consistency
- Working with material Suppliers to identify causes and effective corrective actions eliminating chronic quality non-conformities
- Understanding, complying with, and updating the PAC Quality System (QMS) as needed
- Assuring the proper disposition of conforming and non-conforming materials per the appropriate documented Quality standards and procedures; this includes Supplier communication and assuring proper product identification, segregation, and transactional integrity
- Measuring and reporting the performance of key material suppliers, including generating, distributing, and presenting Supplier Scorecards
- Formulating and meeting Supplier Quality objectives in agreement with corporate policies and goals
- Ensuring and verifying the consistency and accuracy within all PAC material testing facilities
- Ensuring that the appropriate employees are trained and competent in the testing, evaluation, and processing of raw materials
- Tracking and reporting Supplier performance per established processes and procedures
- Applying analytical and statistical methods and approaches to the tracking and reporting of data
- Pursuing resolution for malfunctioning lab and manufacturing testing equipment
- Establishing appropriate test methods and methodology for all PAC material testing facilities
- Implementing standard procedures and methods to assure consistency across all PAC material testing facilities
- Participating effectively in team initiatives as a representative of Quality
- Establishing the necessary calibration and verification processes for all lab and material testing equipment
- Communicating daily with all levels of employees to assist in resolving problems & achieving company goals
- Other duties as assigned
Qualifications
College Degree in a relevant field or equivalent experience. Engineering degree preferred.- 2+ years of experience within Quality / Supplier Quality and analytical Lab environment preferred
- Knowledge and experience in ISO 9001 and auditing preferred
- Six-Sigma and TQM administration and application knowledge preferred
- Able to demonstrate excellent internal and external communication skills
- Knowledge of film manufacturing and converting is a plus.
- ASQ certifications preferred
- Able to demonstrate excellent internal and external communication skills
- Must have the ability to read, write and understand English and speak effectively before groups
- Must be able to understand reports and correspondence
- The position must be able to perform statistical data analysis including capability indices
- Advanced reasoning skills with the ability to deal with problems involving several variables in multiple types of situations required
- To perform this job successfully, an individual should have a strong working knowledge of Microsoft Office software and be willing to complete additional training.
