The Technical Support Specialist is a 12-month position providing network support for faculty and staff. The qualified individual will posses excellent listening and communication skills, a professional attitude, and excellent interpersonal skills to interact with students and faculty/staff both face to face and over the phone. Must possess the knowledge to determine the difference between hardware, software or network related problems in order to determine what help the customer needs.

Qualifications

A minimum of a Bachelors Degree or equivalent related experience in a computer related field with at least 2 years experience troubleshooting the following software packages: Windows 10, Office 365, Google Chrome Browser, McAfee Anti-Virus, Microsoft Exchange email client/webmail. Knowledge of the following is helpful but not required; various browsers, Firefox, Internet Explorer, MicroSoft Edge, Safari, and Malware/spyware detection programs. Educational supplement software such as Canvas LMS, My Math lab, Video design/presentation, Remote Assistance/Remote Desktop, and TeamViewer.

Duties and Responsibilities

• Provide phone support to employees for computer hardware, software and network related problems. Support includes troubleshooting TV Services, wireless, and access control reader issues.
• Supervise open labs for employee and student use. Duties include providing software support for anyone using the lab.
• Monitor all tech support tickets in Service Desk Plus.
• Provide support for students in accessing network services (i.e. webmail, Canvas).
• Serve as liaison to Network Support department.
• Assist in establishing and maintaining procedures for services provided by IT Help Desk.
