The University of Pittsburgh is seeking qualified candidates for the position of Technology Support Specialist in the University Library System Information Technology Department, responsible for public facing Library technology, staff technology support and audio/visual support for the University Library System at Pitt. This position provides skilled front-line technical support on an in-person or virtual basis to members of the University Library System. Advanced support is provided for a wide range of end user computer and IT resources such as computing devices, network connectivity, operating systems, end user applications and troubleshooting problems with access and use of departmental and University IT resources.. As part of the Technology Support Services (TSS) team, your duties will also include computer hardware and software support, hardware deployment, classroom technology support and on-site technology and a/v support for breakout rooms, event spaces and other public facing library technology. TSS team members will draft technology support documentation and provide training to colleagues. Help Desk team members will provide direction to student employees during work hours. Working primarily from the Hillman Library, you will provide support for University Library System facilities in departmental libraries on the Oakland Campus, the Library Resource Facility in Pittsburgh’s Point Breeze neighborhood and primarily remote support for the University’s four regional campuses.In supporting the rapidly-evolving Library technology environment, the candidate must have demonstrated experience with Microsoft Windows, Office, Office 365, SharePoint, Windows deployment tools, online meeting tools like Teams and Zoom, presentation tools, conference room technology and mobile device support. Experience with digital signage, digital scanning systems, event and media production A/V support, Makerspace tools such as VR, vinyl cutters, 3D printing and scanning is preferred. The applicant must have excellent customer services skills and strong interpersonal skills. This position supports the University Libraries during University Business Hours: 8:30-5PM M-F. The incumbent may be on call for system support during evening/weekend hours. Bachelor's Degree and 3 years of relevant experience. 3 years of relevant experience in Information Technology (may include work towards degree as a student). Equivalent experience may be considered in lieu of a degree.
