JOB SUMMARY

Under the direction of the Director of Quality and Compliance assist with planning, establishing, implementing, and maintaining all transportation routes. Responsible for developing, monitoring, coordinating, and implementing the ORC Driving schedule between shuttle bus drivers and deliveries. The position has lead responsibilities over the Transportation team and its drivers. Other responsibilities include developing and presenting alternative transportation education programs to staff. Must be able to drive bus/van and carry out safe driving practices. Must pass MN DHS and MVR background study and obtain DOT medical card and driver’s license. .

CORE ACCOUNTABILITIES

  • TRANSPORTATION COMPLIANCE (25%) – All activities should follow government regulations and laws including, but not limited to CARF, MNDOT, and licensing (245D). Communicate all regulations to all departments through training, safety programs, and signs

  • COMMUNICATION (20%) – Act as a liaison between clients, other staff, and supervisor. Communicate effectively with all levels of Winona ORC through written and oral communication to ensure that all safety policies, procedures, and standards are understood. Communicate in a manner that protects and ensures client confidentiality. Attend departmental meetings and other meetings as required. Supervising and overseeing drivers within a team that need scheduling, and management of transportation communicated to on a weekly basis.

  • ADMINISTRATION (25%) – Ensure that all manuals and safety policies are updated. Analyze accident data and recommend proactive solutions to reduce the frequency and severity of accidents. Conduct periodic surveys and inspections to ensure that all employees, equipment, and materials comply with Winona ORC’s and government standards. Ensure that all activities and operations are carried out in compliance with all regulatory agencies and with Winona ORC’s mission, vision, goals, and policies. Maintain schedule for shuttle drivers in an efficient and effective manner. Conduct performance reviews on positions supervised. Maintain time records for positions supervised.

  • SUPERVISING AND OVERSEEING DRIVERS (25%) – Transportation Coordinator will be in charge of scheduling and approving time off requests, training new hires (within Transportation), ensuring that all Transportation Staff are up to date on Trainings with the Human Resources Director.

MEASURES OF SUCCESS/STANDARDS

  • SAFETY TRAINING – Employees maintain safe work practices and comply with all regulations by using methods taught during safety programs and training. Government and Winona ORC’s safety regulations are understood by all employees. Employees know how to report any safety hazard or injury.

  • COMPLIANCE – All activities are in compliance with government regulations and laws including, OSHA, DOT, NFPA, and MNOSHA. All regulations are known throughout all departments.

  • COMMUNICATION – Effective communication is maintained with clients, staff members, and supervisor. All levels of Winona ORC are knowledgeable of policies, procedures, and standards to create a safe work environment. Client confidentiality is maintained. Attendance requirements for all departmental meetings and other necessary meetings are met; absences need prior approval.

  • ADMINISTRATION– All manuals and safety policies are accurate and updated. Accurate and updated records of workplace injuries and workers compensation claims are maintained. Accident data is analyzed and solutions for safety hazards are carried out. Safety inspections are conducted frequently. Activities and operations are carried out in compliance with all regulatory agencies and with Winona ORC’s mission, vision, policies, and goals.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, & ABILITIES


Education:
  • Minimum of High School Diploma or equivalent

  • Experience:
  • Previous experience in a driving capacity and in an industrial setting preferred
    • Previous experience working with persons with disabilities preferred
    • Computer literate.

    Language Skills:
  • Proficient writing, speaking, and communication skills in English

  • Mathematical Skills:
  • Able to perform routine math functions

  • Mental Demands:
  • Able to perform functions described in core accountabilities
    • Able to complete assigned tasks under stressful situations


    Reasoning Ability:


  • Able to interpret a variety of instructions in written, oral, diagram or schedule form

  • Licensing or Certifications and other requirements:
  • Valid driver’s license with additional endorsements and a good driving record
    • Have or obtain a driver’s physical exam established by DOT
    • Ability to complete all required training and certification
    • CPR and First Aid certification and current vehicle insurance
    • Ability to pass MN Department of Human Services background study
    • Ability to pass drug test and criminal background check
