Deco Truss, a Division of USLBM, is seeking Truss Experienced Designers in Homestead, FL

Founded in 1983, Deco Truss serves framing and building contractors for residential, multi-family and commercial projects. In addition to manufacturing all types of truss systems, Deco Truss also provides lumber, decking and roofing materials, rebar, millwork and doors, fencing supplies, tools, hardware and more to customers. Deco Truss operates an 8.5-acre manufacturing plant and retail location in Miami and will operate as a unit of US LBM’s Raymond Building Supply.

Position Review:

Use computer or technical tools to prepare detailed presentation of building material requirements and or systems for assigned project or related segment. May design and complete layouts of residential roof and floor systems for pricing and manufacturing.

Position is on-site only

Essential Job Duties:

• Estimates the costs for residential and commercial wood roof and floor truss systems according to company policy and local building code
• Assists salesmen as needed with customer orders and materials lists
• Take-offs as requested
• Provides assistance to contractors as needed
• Trains sales representatives in estimating techniques
• Assist sales staff with blueprint reading and construction procedures
• Review actual vs. estimated materials on completion of each project
• Control expenditures to conform to company budgetary requirements
• Complies with Company’s attendance policy by maintaining regular and predictable attendance
• Other duties as assigned by location management

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:

• Minimum education: Technical Degree in engineering or related area or related experience.
• Minimum experience:1+ years of truss design and building materials related experience.
• Knowledge: Truss Design using Alpine or MiTek Truss Design Software. Understanding of measurements and basic math principles.
• Special skills: Ability to read blueprints and other technical materials. Ability to interpret building plans in diagram form and deal with abstract and concrete variables. Ability to operate networked computer systems and specialized software application programs and to instruct others in effective use of application software. Must have excellent oral communication skills and positive interpersonal skills.
