USPI Director, Facilities Management (REMOTE) – 50% National Travel Job at USPI

Reporting to the Senior Director, Facilities Management, the Director, Facilities Management, USPI will oversee the facilities management activities of United Surgical Partners, a wholly owned subsidiary of Tenet Healthcare. This person will be accountable for providing strategic vision, leadership, and prioritized direction for maintenance and engineering projects for the business. With shared ownership for the facilities capital plan, the Director will oversee the planning, engineering and design, safety, care, and upkeep of all physical facilities across the system. He or she will research, identify, and assess system-wide capital renewal and deferred maintenance needs, and ensure compliance with applicable federal, state, and designated regulatory agency(s) rules and regulations. Project direction will include budgeting, project, and cash flow management.

The role will be based in Dallas, TX.

Other responsibilities include:
Oversite for 30 surgical hospitals and >475 non-acute care outpatient surgical centers.

Knowledge and understanding of implementing a CMMS system for tracking and managing service and maintenance of widely disbursed portfolio.

Review and inspection of new facilities obtained through M&A activities.

Ability to sell ideas & programs to executive management.

Develops capital budget priorities, working in partnership with the executive team to ensure collaboration and integration of capital requests with the company’s strategic plans and goals.

Develops and executes the facility plans, budgeting projects, and cash flow with regard to facilities designated projects.

Works alongside corporate departments and senior management to ensure that the planning, programming, and presentation of the system's capital renewal needs are prioritized, and key projects are completed with the company’s broader capital agenda.

Leads and coordinates the development of the multi-year market capital plan for projects requiring exceptional resources, develops project plans, justification, and cost estimates for integration into the capital plan and presentation to the Executive Team and JV Board of Directors.

Responsible for planning, establishing, coordinating, installing, and monitoring systems to track, report, and respond to a comprehensive system security plan.

Oversees and ensures an effective emergency management system is in place to include all system facilities regardless of physical location.

Jointly oversees the maintenance personnel ensuring they are executing defined preventative maintenance programs through the field team.

Develops integrated capital project priority listings, for facilities renewal and replacement, and creates facility related short-and long-term strategic plans.

Works with facility staff for maintenance training, maintenance response reporting and emergency management.

Qualifications:
Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees in Business Management, Engineering, or a relevant field.

10+ years of experience working with a decentralized facilities team, healthcare facilities management, and large-scale complex projects.

Significant senior level facilities & project management experience.

Ability to travel nationally up to 50% required (minimum). Selected candidates will be required to pass Motor Vehicle Record check.

Demonstrated experience in developing, structuring, and leading the capital planning, facilities maintenance and engineering within a complex, multi-site enterprise.

Demonstrated experience in strategizing, creating, and implementing a multi-year, Master Facility Plan across multiple uses.

Knowledge and experience managing an outsources facilities team.

Experience supporting joint venture relationships.

Ability to assess current assets both owned and leased and determine highest and best uses as well as creative alternatives.

Experience with new energy efficient systems and new technology to lower energy costs.

Knowledge of construction management, project management, and all codes and regulations pertaining to construction, including management of large capital.

Knowledge on sourcing, evaluating, deploying, and integrating an enterprise CMMS tool.

Ability to develop enterprise FM standards & playbooks.

Ability to collaborate with corporate security and emergency response teams to develop a proactive approach to asset preservation from severe weather events, or civil disruptions.

Knowledge in CMS required NFPA codes and standards including Life Safety Code, Fire Alarm, Water-Based Fire Protection Systems, Emergency and Standby Power Systems and Health Care Facilities Code.

Understanding of the Joint Commission survey process regarding Environment of Care and Life Safety.

Understanding of the Joint Commission “Hospital Accreditation Handbook”.

Assist with Joint Commission readiness.

Management of critical system failures such as HVAC, Electrical and Fire Alarm.

Assist with site management sourcing on temporary basis (interim and long term).

Technical support for Hospital Facilities Directors in general.

Knowledge of hospital infrastructure and project prioritization.

Knowledge of ATG platform.

Interface with biomed, IT on building systems that cross department lines (for example nurse call, UPS maintenance, etc.).

Initiate and conduct internal team status meetings, document risks and issues and communicate to the team.

Ability to engage and carry conversations with the local hospital leadership team, including C-Suite presentations and reporting.

Experience in developing and delivering communication plans and vehicles across multiple stakeholder groups (internal and external).

Ability to quickly understand and navigate the internal Tenet business units to align the efforts of key staff to the betterment of the effort.

Presentation and executive communication experience.

Computer-literate with practical experience developing project work plans and related MS Office tools.

Good negotiation skills with an assertive approach.

Education & Experience:
Ten or more years of clinical or other pertinent experience preferred.

Minimum of bachelor’s degree.

PMP Certification preferred.

CHC, CHFM, CHE, CHM or other professional health care engineering certification is considered a plus.

Knowledge of Energy & Sustainability program development a plus.
