Job Summary
This position is responsible for the coordination of certification requirements for the Veterans Educational Assistance Program (VEAP) on the Cochran, Eastman, and Dublin campuses. Travel to other Middle Georgia State University campuses may be required. This position will report directly to the Assistant Registrar responsible for Veterans Certifications.
Responsibilities
Works Collaboratively to Complete Certification -
Records and reports VEAP student data.
Monitors VEAP student enrollments to ensure compliance with program requirements.
Records changes in student enrollment status.
Monitors VEAP student accounts to ensure proper scholarship crediting.
Maintains and tracks changes to program policies and procedures; reviews certification handbook; monitors program Web site.
Coordinates and Organize -
Orients new students to program policies and procedures.
Monitors VEAP student grades to ensure compliance with program requirements.
Establishes new student files.
Assists with external program audits.
Responds to questions and concerns from students; provides information and assistance.
Performs Variety of Duties -
Attends conferences and training sessions to remain informed of program policy or procedure changes.
Refers students to other internal or external resources.
Serve as primary backup for front desk as needed
Performs related duties as assigned.
Required Qualifications
Educational Requirements
Knowledge and level of competency commonly associated with completion of specialized training in the field of work, in addition to basic skills typically associated with an associate degree.
Required Experience
Sufficient experience to understand the basic principles relevant to the major duties of the position, usually associated with the completion of an apprenticeship/internship or having had a similar position for one to two years.
Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities
Knowledge of VEAP policies and procedures.
Knowledge of Veterans Administration (VA) policies and procedures.
Knowledge of university policies and procedures.
Knowledge of data analysis and reporting.
Skill in the operation of computers and job-related software programs.
Skill in decision making and problem solving.
Skill in interpersonal relations and in dealing with the public.
Skill in oral and written communication.
