The Vice President of People and Culture will play a key role in developing and executing human resource and human capital management strategy in support of Old Sturbridge Village (OSV), Old Sturbridge Academy Charter School’s (OSA), and Coggeshall Farm Museum’s overall business plan and strategic direction. This position will be located on-site at Old Sturbridge Village. A key focus area for this position immediately will be developing an effective talent acquisition/employee recruitment program by forming strategic partnerships to source the highest performing, most passionate candidates to join the teams here at OSV, OSA and CFM. This role will ensure Old Sturbridge Village’s commitment to diversity, equity, inclusion and accessibility.

This position will direct and coordinate all human resources services for OSV, OSA and CFM , including full cycle recruitment activities, onboarding and orientation programs, compensation, benefits, policy and procedure development, employee relations, and legal compliance.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources or related field
  • 15 plus years of progressive HR management/leadership experience
  • Demonstrated ability to manage/mentor/develop successful human resource professionals
  • Prior experience working in non-profit organizations, or charter school, is preferred but not required.
  • Demonstrated recruiting capabilities with the ability to recruit and work with a diverse employee and candidate population
  • Ability to relate to, communicate and build trust-based relationships with employees at all levels of organization
  • Demonstrated sound and consistent judgment, initiative and the ability to deal with complex, evolving situations.
  • Ability to work productively with divergent opinions; promotes collaboration and exchange of ideas

  • Strong knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite with prior experience with progressive HR technology tools and methodologies.

Essential Duties:

  • Develop a recruitment strategy consistent with company strategy and culture. Partner with leaders to build and sustain a leadership culture that drives retention, engagement, and team member performance.
  • Develop and implement full recruiting cycle services to include strategic sourcing methodology and candidate management and selection to fill open positions at all levels of organization and across diverse divisions/functions.
  • Collaborates with all departments to identify future talent needs and build talent pipelines accordingly.
  • Support Diversity, Equity, Inclusion and Access (DEIA) strategy and initiatives for the organization to attract and retain a diverse workplace. Serve as an advocate, coach, and facilitator for building diverse and inclusive teams.
  • Consult, advise, and coach managers on organizational needs, recruiting, recognition, compensation, employee relations, and performance management program (performance reviews, work plans, performance improvement).
  • Manage benefit programs to ensure high quality, cost effective benefits and services for our employees.
  • Collaborate with leadership in developing and implementing initiatives to nurture a culture of respect, open communication, employee engagement, teamwork and positive employee relations.
  • Recommend, develop, implement & maintain all personnel policies and procedures.
  • Oversee management of an equitable compensation programs, including analysis and classification of all positions. Review all salary changes and position upgrades. Provide guidance to hiring managers on compensation process.
  • Working with the management team, identify employee training needs and collaborate as necessary with managers to coordinate relevant training.
  • Supervise daily operations in human resource department; manage human resource recordkeeping and reporting functions. Prepare and monitor department budget.
  • Stay current on HR best practices; collaborate with other cultural institutions on industry trends.
  • Ensure compliance with all state and federal laws and regulations
  • Demonstrated commitment to valuing diversity and contributing to an inclusive working and learning environment.
