About This Role

PrizePicks is looking for a VP of Compliance to help PrizePicks complete its establishment and maintenance of our compliance positioning in the daily fantasy sports space.

Key Accountabilities:

  • Create enterprise compliance program and policy development for the Daily Fantasy Sports space.

  • Develop strategies for compliance risk management and design and implement internal controls, policies, procedures, and training to assure compliance with applicable laws, corporate standards, and state-specific regulations.

  • Work cross-department with product and marketing teams to ensure well-rounded, cross-functional company compliance.

  • End to end policy and program development, delivery and maintenance, includes creation of in-depth compliance policies for AML and BSA

  • Work with Fraud and Product teams to complete multi-faceted and well-rounded KYC/OFAC policies and information sharing procedures between Fraud/Product and Compliance

Responsibilities:

  • Stay abreast of changes to state and federal DFS regulations, licensure requirements and third party requirements (e.g. payment processors, banks and credit card companies).

  • Conduct impact assessments and keep internal teams updated and educated on changes.

  • Cross functional product support for new or expanding DFS initiatives.

  • Assist legal team in managing state DFS licensing regulatory obligations.

  • Create defined roles for compliance teams and assist in transition of fraud/risk and comp;liance to separate, stand-alone departments.

  • Work with the CTO and Senior Director of Fraud to educate departments on the State and independent test lab requirements

  • Build and maintain an internal database of all compliance regulations across North America and become an internal SME on all of its contents

  • Support the VP of Product & Head of Marketing in interpreting regulatory technical, marketing, and responsible gaming requirements in an effort to work with Regulatory Affairs to provide comments on new regulations to ensure the regulatory bodies implement regulation that adhere to the latest industry standards and company product/marketing needs

  • Work with Regulatory Affairs to manage documentation required to support all regulatory submissions

  • Carry out risk assessments and compliance reviews to ensure policies and procedures are being followed.

  • Work directly with company banks and traditional financial institutions on compliance applications, keep bank relationship managers informed of new developments, and respond to banking requests.

  • Develop responsible gaming policies including those around customer suspension and termination.

  • Govern the responsibility to report misconduct and non-compliance, the path for reporting, and protection from retaliation.

  • Ensure that compliance issue remediation efforts are sufficient and timely; Review action plans and remediation documentation to support event closure; Participate in root cause analysis and identify customer experience improvement activities.

  • Work to enroll company in FINCEN and create applicable SAR and OFAC reporting procedures

Skills & Qualifications:

  • 3-5 years of compliance experience in a risk management, compliance, or internal control related function in the gaming, financial services or financial technology spaces

  • Preferably working with higher risk market verticals

  • 2-5 years of multi state compliance experience in the gaming or financial industries.

  • Experience working with gaming merchants or providers.

  • Experience in implementing virtual currencies (crypto, utility tokens, security tokens) as funding source for gaming activity is strongly preferred.

  • Demonstrated ability in constructing, developing, delivering and managing compliance programs and product controls in a fast-paced industry.

  • Demonstrated understanding of end-to-end DFS regulated vs unregulated business models, AML checks and protections, and related regulatory requirements.

  • Demonstrated ability to uncover root causes and key risk trends from a wide variety of data sources and create detailed action plans to improve Fraud and AML risk as it relates to PrizePicks’ DFS offering.

  • Strong team player confident in managing others and comfortable reporting to executive-level supervisors.

  • Experience with stored value, money transmission, alternative payments, and crypto currency are a plus.

  • CAMS, CFE, or equivalent certification is preferred.

This position reports to the VP, Legal & Government Affairs and will also liaise with the Chief Technology Officer and Head of Product.
