We are looking to bring a Vice President of Energy Storage to the executive team at Clean Energy Associates. The ideal candidate will bring exceptional leadership and business development skills necessary to build a Global Energy Storage practice. This Position requires a self-motivated seller/do-er that understands the key drivers of developing, growing and scaling a services business. Position Scope Reporting to the CEO, the Vice President of Energy Storage will have P&L responsibility and provide business leadership as well as the ability to cross-functionally lead the organization and capitalize on the opportunity in the Energy Storage marketplace. With an initial focus on the America’s geography, this is a role of global scope. Energy storage domain expertise, consultative sales approach as well as relevant experience in the services side of the industry are some of the key success factors. The Vice President of Energy Storage will work closely with the CEO and the executive team to craft and communicate the company’s vision as it expands its presence in Energy Storage market. This individual will be responsible for driving revenue and growing a storage technical advisory practice.
The position is responsible for leading the growth and execution of CEA’s Energy Storage Services business including leading and supporting business development, leadership of the team, maintaining project management and program related standards, and oversight of project execution. The VP, Storage provides leadership of the Storage (STG) team and advances CEA’s revenue and profitability targets. VP, Storage will hire non-synergistic resources on a case by case basis to grow the business and achieve revenue and profitability goals. The VP is tasked with defining Project scopes of work, developing Product and Market strategy in conjunction with CT, developing product collateral, leading the execution of projects on behalf of CEA’s storage clients. The VP supports Marketing, Business Development, Sales and company strategy and product development related to Storage.
Requirements and Qualifications:
- Enhance, develop, deliver and execute 3 Year strategic Business Plan broken down into quarterly financial milestones for growing Storage Service Business - (Who, What, How)
- Market definition, Specific service lines growth plan (Existing and new), Market penetration strategy, Pricing and P&L Structure, specific clients identified, specific clients target penetration strategy, Quarterly revenue and profit targets, resource requirement development and approval
- Quarterly financial goals – Revenue, Gross and Net Profit margin, Resourcing, Utilization
- Business Development
- Lead development and implementation of Client and market penetration strategies
- Develop and implement plans for Strategic business development in line with CEA profit objectives, revenues, and bookings objectives and Contribute meaningfully to CEA’s revenue growth and profitability.
- Lead the development of technical content for CEA’s storage offerings, including supply chain and business intelligence services.
- Be the Voice of the Customer
- Develop strategies for establishing long-term partnerships with clients and for ensuring client satisfaction
- Initiate and expand relationships with banks and investors funding large scale Energy Storage projects
- Oversee deal negotiations, contract development, due diligence, and other business development or alliances for development of projects
- Collaborate and cultivate relationships with external partners and industry insiders
- Represent CEA at high level client facing meetings and other engagements, and manage communications among clients, employees and project stakeholders
- Client-facing Act as CEA’s technical expert on storage. Act as CEA’s storage projects execution leader. Deliver strategies used to target, secure then expand key account relationships.
- Develop business cases for storage and integrated solar projects. Understand the competitive landscape for storage platforms
- Support all aspects of final stage business development and deal execution
- Participate in industry tradeshows and seminars through participation and speaking engagements
- Project Delivery and Execution
- Overall responsibility for execution and WOW customer experience of projects – responsible for key metrics associated with On time delivery, Safety, Quality, Customer experience, Utilization, Revenue and profitability of projects
- Lead the execution and delivery of CEA’s storage offering; monitor project milestones and financials - actual vs. plan and take corrective action as needed.
- Responsible for short-term revenue results, forecast future revenue
- Accountable for both short term success and longer-term revenue strategy.
- Work with the CFO to determine budget and resource trade-offs with a goal of continually improving results and driving on predictable revenue streams.
- Work with internal teams to assign cross functional team members to projects and programs.
- Provide leadership, guidance, and oversight to CEA team members, including creation of project plans, tracking and management of project schedules, and development of project deliverables
- Actively participate in as well as supervise the drafting of project deliverables and follow-up materials and reports
- Growth of the Storage organization, including forecasting resources required to deliver on projects, mentorship of team members, and support in hiring
- Lead the collection and dissemination of lessons learned and best practices across the organization on a regular basis.

- Develop working relationships with new industry partners such as e.g. test labs or other advisory firms that cooperate with CEA
- Existing and New Solution Offerings Support and Development
- Familiarity with structured product development, such as Stage-Gate and “Voice of the Customer;”
- Lead the development of new service offerings, including:
- Collaborating with internal (and/or external) partners on development of business plans, target customers, and offering definitions (scopes, templates, etc…).
- Identify needs for new professionals or capabilities to effectively deliver on new service offerings.

- Work with HR to establish an effective training and onboarding process for new members and to ensure ongoing training sessions are implemented according to HR training and career development protocols
- Consistent with leadership and guidance from HR, implement performance management system (Job scorecards, goals, Key Performance Indicators, Quarterly Feed back sessions (QFSs), reviews, one-on-ones) for each team member quarterly
- Actively coach, manage, and mentor junior team members on their opportunities to improve key development areas with a numeric improvement on everyone’s job scorecard rating and measurement examples of improvement given to executive leadership team (ELT)

Qualifications
- 10+ years of experience as a Storage and Solar engineering and business leader, having managed organizations of 10 people or more
- Masters’ degree in Engineering with a focus on Renewables (Solar and Storage), or Business Administration
- Excellent interpersonal and communications skills
- Highly collaborative with the ability to work well with peer leadership and distributed stakeholders.
- Ability to prioritize and execute on multiple projects with an attention to detail
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills
- Extensive technical knowledge of Solar engineering and product development
- Excellent financial skills and ability to analyze financial data
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite or similar software
- Multi-lingual. Chinese highly desirable.
