Waterfront Director - Park City Job at Girl Scouts of Utah

The waterfront director will supervise the waterfront counselors, oversee the safety and operation of the waterfront program, develop waterfront programs and curriculums, and perform lifeguard duties and in-service trainings. This is a live-on-site position for the duration of the scheduled work-week. Staff may stay on site over the weekends. Reasonable accommodations may be made for the ideal candidate.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Complete weekly and end of season reports.
- Supervise the Lifeguards and train them in their duties; manage their schedules.
- Plan, develop and provide quality waterfront programs for all campers with the support of the Lifeguards.
- Evaluate swimming ability of campers and staff.
- Teach and enforce all waterfront safety rules.
- Teach and facilitate swimming, boating (canoeing, kayaking, sailing, paddle boarding, wind surfing) and water safety skills.
- Teach and monitor the proper use of equipment.
- Set up the waterfront area during staff training and break it down at the end of the season.
- Manage the health and safety conditions at the waterfront.
- When not at the waterfront, work with fellow counselors under the direction of Head Counselors to plan and provide program to campers; teach workshops, games, songs, projects and more to campers.
Requirements and Qualifications
- Must be a certified driver on council's behalf (clear MVR background, be at least 21 years of age and provide proof of auto insurance and motor vehicle licensing).
- Several years of relevant experience, and supervisory experience.
- Have the knowledge and ability to teach skills in swimming, water safety, canoeing, kayaking, sailing, paddle boarding and wind surfing.
- Hold or be willing to obtain Red Cross Waterfront Lifeguarding & First Aid, CPR for the Professional Rescuer, and Small Craft Safety certifications or the equivalent.
- Hold or willing to obtain a current Utah Food Handler’s Permit.
