POSITION TITLE: Well Technician
LOCATION: Big Lake, Texas
Responsibilities
The main objective of the Well Technician role is to optimize daily hydrocarbon production. Employees in this role perform daily production surveillance utilizing SCADA and other production tools to communicate and resolve production variances with the team. Employees in this role possess strong field knowledge of different artificial lift types and petroleum production systems. The successful candidate will be responsible for:
- Actively monitor SCADA and production platforms for variances in production; communicate issues, concerns, and make parameter changes while communicating to the engineer
- Troubleshoot day-to-day operational issues outstanding, in coordination with the Production Supervisor/Lead Lease Operator, shoot and review fluid levels, hot water treatments, chemical treatments, dynamometer reading, VFD parameter modifications, swapping plungers, jet pump combo changes.
- Review all active well shutdowns, rod pump cards, plunger runs, gas lift injection rates, jet pump VFD speed and pressures
- Coordinate with lease operators on well modifications including choke changes, SPM pumping unit, gas lift injection rates, plunger run times, tubing and casing pressure changes, jet pump combo changes, facility, or compression modifications/adjustments
- Pull and inspect plungers, reverse and change out downhole jet pump tool combinations, repair and rebuild artificial lift related equipment as needed (back pressure valves, regulators, dump valves, etc.)
- Adhere to and support RRP Safety and Environmental culture
- Perform other job-related duties as assigned
- Willing to train and advise lease operators on optimal artificial lift operations
Role-Specific Technical Knowledge & Skills
- Strong working knowledge of various artificial lift systems including hydraulic jet pumps, gas assisted plunger lift, gas lift, and rod pumps
- Strong understanding of commonly measured field data and how it relates to well operations and performance
- Working knowledge of production operations, surveillance, and downhole lift configurations
- Knowledge of petroleum production systems and process flow equipment
- Proficient in using the Microsoft Office suite of applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook)
- Be proficient at Cygnet, Axion, P2 (production reporting software), XSPOC, and Total Asset Manager
- Self-starter and strong leader
- Must be able to walk several miles a day and climb steps
Experience and Education
- High School Diploma or GED
- Minimum 4 years industry experience, 3 years in production operations working for either an operator or service company specializing in artificial lift
- Willing to work independently to get the job done
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $32.00 - $38.00 per hour
