Job Title: Youth Mentor

About Us

At Cascade Academy, residential treatment center, we help adolescent girls struggling with severe anxiety embrace life with courage and joy. We work with girls from 13-18 years old achieve their goals and learn how to move through the challenges of debilitating anxiety. We believe each girl has unique causes of anxiety including her genetics/physical health, life experiences, patterns of thinking, distress tolerance levels, and ability to navigate relationships. Our treatment team addresses every one of these areas in a personalized plan. Our academy is intentionally kept small, a limit of 26 girls, and located in the heart of scenic Midway Utah.

We are looking for mentors to serve as members of the treatment team and assist in implementing instructed treatment plans, providing direct care supervision of our students, and participate in student activities. Mentors guide clients according to treatment plan instructions as well as acting as a role model of healthy behaviors.

Responsibilities of a mentor includes the following:

• Maintain a safe environment for students.
• Provide supervision and support for students throughout their day as they complete group therapy, recreation therapy, tasks of daily living, and school programs.
• Give feedback to the treatment team about student’s behaviors.
• Demonstrate professionalism, strong decision-making skills, and an ability to communicate effectively.
• Lead skills-based groups for students and document accordingly.
• Participate in activities with students within the academy campus and in the local community.
• Provide feedback to senior staff of Cascade Academy regarding student progress.
• Attend required trainings.

Qualifications

• Must be 20 years of age
• Must be able to pass a background check and drug test
• Experience with adolescent age group preferred
• High School Diploma or Equivalent; Bachelors preferred.
• Ability to stay calm in stressful situations.
• Must demonstrate experience in working as a team.
• Valid Drivers License.
