The Department of Athletics will support the university mission by developing and maintaining a top-quality Division II intercollegiate athletics program that is committed to providing a positive and fulfilling academic and athletic experience for all student-athletes. As a member of the Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference (RMAC) and the NCAA Division II, CSU Pueblo Athletics plays a supporting role in the higher education mission while enhancing a sense of community, strengthening our identity and playing a prominent role in enrollment management for the University.

Description of Job

This 12-month, year-round, full-time position provides an Assistant Sports Information Director for the Department of Athletics. This position will handle sports information responsibilities under the direction of the Director of Sports Communications. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to, coordinating and producing live streaming and video highlight packages for designated events; managing and providing operational direction and support for the ThunderTron and Massari Arena video boards; conducting in-game statistics, maintaining statistical records, completing RMAC and NCAA reporting forms and serving as main media contact for several assigned sports; nominating and promoting student-athletes, coaches and other staff for academic and athletic awards; developing and producing selected game programs; assisting in the production of the department’s graphic needs, including weekly game and special event promotion, pre-game and post-game graphics, motion graphics and video board graphics; maintaining department website and writing news releases, game stories and feature articles; assisting in the management of live stats; helping maintain and organize graphics and photos; managing Athletics social media accounts; and providing oversight and training of sports information students and interns. This individual will assume other duties assigned by the Director of Sports Communications, Associate Athletic Director for External Relations and the Vice President for Athletics and Strategic Partnerships.

Primary Duties
In coordination with the Director of Sports Communications, the assistant sports information director will conduct in-game statistics, maintain statistical records, complete RMAC and NCAA reporting forms and serve as main media contact for several assigned sports; nominate and promote student-athletes, coaches and other staff for academic and athletic awards; develop and produce selected game programs; and write news releases, game stories and feature articles.

Coordinate and produce live streaming and video highlight packages for designated events; manage and provide operational direction and support for the ThunderTron and Massari Arena video boards.

Maintain department website; assist in the management of live stats; help maintain and organize graphics and photos.

Manage Athletics social media accounts.

Assist in the production of the department’s graphic needs, including weekly game and special event promotion, pre-game and post-game graphics, motion graphics and video board graphics.

Provide oversight and training of sports information students and interns.

Ancillary Duties:
Other duties as assigned by the Director of Sports Communications, Associate Athletic Director/Vice President for Athletics and Strategic Partnerships.

Salary Range:
$35,568 - $46,000

Minimum Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree from an accredited 4-year institution
• Willing and able to work nights and weekends
• Able to demonstrate successful skills in cooperation, organization, communication and problem solving
• Able to be successful in a diverse environment
• Experience in the area of sports information, specifically in statistics, media communications and social media

Preferred Qualifications

• Master’s degree from an accredited 4-year institution
• Demonstrated commitment to continuing education and professional development to ensure that skill and techniques are consistent with the most current methodologies
• Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to effectively communicate with students, coaches, administrators, and staff
• Demonstrated commitment to abide by all University, conference, NCAA, and athletic training regulations
• Experience working with diverse populations

Condition of Employment
