How will you make an impact?

As an Automation PLC Engineer III, you will work with other Senior Engineers to streamline industrial processes or improve the OEE of other types of packaging equipment. You have a strong understanding of mechanical, electrical and PLC computer systems in order to build their designs. With your problem-solving skills, you will identify issues and work as a team to come up with ways to improve them.



What will you do?
  • Use of AutoCAD to read electrical or mechanical schematics which would assist in trouble-shooting equipment or processes. Work independently to build or install new designs as applicable.
  • Independently troubleshoot systems with PLCs, robots, servos, VFDs, etc.; be able to go online to diagnose problems and make programming changes.
  • Advanced electrical knowledge of low voltage and 120/480 VAC circuits either through schooling and /or on the job training.
  • Strong Electrical and Controls background with working knowledge of Controls Circuits, Power Distribution, Control Power, Communication Networks, PLC’s, and VFD’s.
  • Independently create electrical wiring diagrams for new and existing equipment.
  • Full working knowledge and experience with servo or pneumatically actuated equipment.
  • Independently be able to program PLC platforms such as Ladder Logic Diagram (LD), Sequential Function Charts (SFC), Function Block Diagram (FBD), Structured Text (ST), and Instruction List (IL).
  • Working knowledge and experience with SCADA and HMI panels.
  • Install, program, and validate Vision System equipment and processes within the manufacturing area to improve yield and/or reduce cycle time.
  • Assist with revisions and improvements to manufacturing methods and procedures, including writing change orders, SOPs, work instructions, etc.
  • Provide support to manufacturing departments for the design, fabrication, modification, and evaluation of new or modified automation processes.
  • Provide support to manufacturing departments by collecting/processing information related to assigned projects, evaluating all information and alternatives, preparing/presenting plans, and recommending a course of action to management.
  • Prepare cost estimates for labor, automation upgrades plus associated equipment, and prepare CAPEX appropriation requests relating to automation.
  • Coordinate manufacturing launch for new or revised products/processes, including the deployment and training of team members.
  • Evaluate and approve drawings, routings, manufacturing instructions, specifications, and other documents.
  • Prepare and manufacture prototypes and participates in design reviews, utilizing the principles of concurrent engineering.
  • Assist in developing manufacturing processes, production line layouts, fixture design, equipment validations (IQ/OQ), FAT, capability studies, documentation, LEAN techniques, etc.
  • Assist Manufacturing Engineering Team with project management, including managing prioritization, determining project goals, and tracking project milestones. Assist Team with selecting methods and techniques with Team and finishing a project to completion.
  • Qualify equipment in an FDA regulated industry by managing/generating/executing qualification and production documentation (ie, SOP, WI, URS, FAT, SAT, IQ/OQ/PQ, gap analysis, etc.).
  • Promote and support Lean Manufacturing and Continuous Improvement activities in Manufacturing.
  • Assure all teams are in the adherence to all Good Manufacturing Practice (GMP).
  • Meet plant individual performance expectations focusing on Quality, Safety and Delivery.
  • Assure compliance with corporate site and regulatory policies, practices, and guidelines.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.


How will you get here?

Education/Experience:

Degree preferred in Engineering with 5+ years of relevant experience in manufacturing engineering (manufacturing-automation engineering preferred).

OR

In lieu of a bachelor’s degree, an Associates is required with 7 years related field experience required OR successful completion of the Middletown Engineering Internship program required.

OR

Higher level of education such as a Masters degree and 3 – 4 years of experience.
