Position: Crew Leader/ Afterschool Facilitator

Reports to: India Harris/TMC Program Manager

Schedule: Monday-Friday, 2:30PM - 6:30PM

Bible Center Church (BCC) is a multigenerational urban ministry whose vision is to make earth more like heaven. We implement this vision through the initiatives of our community and economic development division—The Oasis Project (TOP). The Oasis Project’s key initiatives include Everyday Café, Oasis Community Kitchen, Oasis Property Maintenance and Management, Own Our Own Entrepreneurship Academy, Oasis Transportation, Oasis Farm and Fishery and The Maker’s Clubhouse.

Program Overview: The Maker’s Clubhouse Out-of-School Time (OST) Program works to positively transform the life outcomes for children who live and attend school in Pittsburgh area.

Position Summary: The Facilitator is solely responsible for implementing planned coursework, lessons, experiments, and activities to use while in one of various Elective stations. The ideal candidate will likely be studying Education, experience with teaching/tutoring is preferred but not required. Must have excellent written and verbal skills, be creative and possess problem-solving skills. Must be able to commit to working during the 2019-2020 school year.

Primary Roles & Responsibilities, include but are NOT limited to the following:

• Build relationships with program participants, staff, and volunteers.
• Provide support to program staff in terms of behavior management for the youth we serve.
• Create and implement lessons, experiments, and activities to youth.
• Attend all meetings that are pertinent to this job position.

Qualifications and Requirements:

• Must be at least 18 years of age.
• Passion to be engaged with elementary aged children and communicate with staff.
• Must pass a Criminal Background check, Child Abuse History clearance, and FBI Criminal Background clearance.

Pay: $16/ hour

Time Commitment:

Commit to attending the program 4 hours for five days per week, 20 hours a week.

Company Overview:

The Maker’s Clubhouse works to positively transform the life outcomes for children in particular in Homewood. We have served Faison students since fall 2011 in various capacities. We currently serve Lincoln Elementary Technology Academy and Faison Elementary, K-5 during and after school:

Social Skills Groups – small group sessions for students in kindergarten through 2nd grade. They are designed to equip students with the skills necessary for positive peer interaction and to improve social skills.

Robotics Lunch Groups – students in 3rd through 5th grade complete robot challenges and are exposed to logic.

Afterschool Program – students participate in a STEAM focused program four days a week. They also receive character development and athledemics (combination of academics and athletics).

Summer Program – students in 3rd through 6th grade participate in a 5 week day camp that explores environmental education, sports and the science behind them.
