Position Description


Organization: Boys & Girls Club of Portage County (non-profit, youth service)

Compensation: $15+/Hour

Hours: 30-40 hours per week preferred, full-time with benefits provided with 30+ hour work commitment

Location: 3 Club Sites


Position Summary: Under general supervision, performs a variety of custodial duties to maintain the cleanliness and orderliness of assigned rooms, buildings, and related facilities at the Boys & Girls Club of Portage County.


Primary duties for the Maintenance/Custodian Personnel:

  • Clean, sanitize, and fill dispensers in restrooms using established practice and procedure
  • Clean, dust, and wipe furniture and counters
  • Sweep, mop, or vacuum floors
  • Empty/clean wastebaskets and trash containers
  • Replace light bulbs
  • Proper use of chemicals and supplies
  • Grounds maintenance including but not limited to:
  • Snow and debris removal- anything within 16 feet of sidewalks and stairs
  • Wash accessible interior and exterior windows
  • Operate a variety of electrical cleaning equipment; maintain and order custodial equipment and supplies
  • Attend to emergencies when necessary
  • Perform related duties as required

Physical Requirements / Work Environment:

  • Must be able to be on stand or be on feet for multiple hours at a time
  • Must have a driver’s license
  • Must be able to lift 50lbs
  • Must be able to follow directions

Skills / Knowledge Required:

  • High school diploma or GED.
  • Ability to create a safe and healthy work environment for staff and members
  • Exercise independent judgment and initiative within general policy guidelines.
  • Ability to work independently
  • Basic interpersonal skills, organization, and innovation
