Client is seeking an Environmental Regulatory & Compliance Engineer to join its environmental team to work in its corporate headquarters located in Sparrows Point, MD. The position will report to the VP ‐ Environment. The position will work extensively with on‐site operations, internal real estate development team, local government officials, contractors, and sub‐contractors.

Job Summary:

The Environmental Regulatory & Compliance Engineer will provide full performance level of engineering in the analysis and evaluation of construction, operational, or industrial projects and processes in pollution control, waste remediation, resource conservation, environmental protection to ensure regulatory compliance with land, air, soil, and water engineering practices, principles, and methods.

Supervisory Responsibilities:

· Some consultant oversight.

Duties/Responsibilities:

· Experience with evaluating/maintaining environmental regulatory compliance in industrial settings.

· Support all jurisdictional permit compliance programs, including Wastewater Treatment Plant NPDES program and State Operating Permit compliance programs.

· Manage environmental permit acquisition, data/documentation tracking, and compliance monitoring.

· Perform daily, weekly, monthly, etc. inspections of various environmentally sensitive operations/areas.

· Arrange and track the disposal of hazardous, solid, and liquid wastes.

· Oversee landfill operations, compliance, and maintenance activities.

· Prepare periodic regulatory compliance reports as required.

· Assist in the preparation of permit applications as required.

· Assist in regulatory inspections and environmental compliance audits and follow‐up as required.

· Assist with projects for environmental equipment additions or replacements to maintain regulatory compliance.

· Identify environmental improvement opportunities.

· Interact with regulatory representatives as required in a professional manner to foster and maintain sound relations.

· Remain current with environmental regulations and technology

· Provide support and consultation to on‐site tenants’ operating or plant general managers;

· Provide technical input to project design to avoid or mitigate adverse environmental effects;

· Participate in internal audit teams, prepare reports, and track project completion;

· Participate in incident investigation, mitigation, root cause analysis, and corrective action;

· Submit applications for new and revised permits;

· Prepare, review, and update environmental investigation reports;

· Obtain, update, and maintain plans, permits, and standard operating procedures;

· Develop recommendations and regulations to prevent future issues with environmental pollution (land, water, air);

· Read and analyze topographical and geological data;

· Ensure compliance with environmental regulations;

· Create company environmental management system and protocols;

· Represents the Company at public meetings, hearings, or other forums on engineering or architectural matters necessary for public education, community services or project approval, initiation, or completion;

· Draft inspection reports to document inspection findings.

· Maintain records in project logs and electronic databases.

· Performs other related duties as assigned.

Required Skills/Abilities:

· Extensive knowledge of environmental regulations and policies.

· Excellent analytical and problem‐solving skills.

· Extensive applied knowledge of environmental engineering science.

· Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.

· Extensive knowledge of techniques, procedures, and equipment used to prevent and control environmental contamination.

· Proficient in technology and equipment used in environmental inspections

· Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite or related software.

Education and Experience:

· Bachelor's Degree in Engineering, Environmental Science, Environmental Studies, Environmental Policy, Earth Science, or a related discipline.

· 10 years of experience and working knowledge of federal, state, and local environmental regulations, and related experience performing engineering work in pollution control, waste remediation, resource conservation, environmental protection, public health and safety, or related areas.

Special Requirements:

· Employee may be subject to call‐in twenty‐four hours a day.

Physical Requirements:

· Physically able to conduct inspections and carry equipment used for inspections

· Must be able to lift up to 25 pounds at times.

· Must be able to traverse various types of terrain within 3300‐acre property.

Job Type: Full-time

Salary: $100,000.00 - $135,000.00 per year
