Job Summary

The Field Service Representative reads, replaces, installs, adjusts, disconnects, or removes gas meters and regulators. Helps in maintaining gas distribution equipment. Investigates and disposes of gas leaks. Make client service calls, perform gas services, meter relocation and hard line changes.

Duties:

1.
Turn service on and off to consumers which involves routine lighting and/or shutting off furnaces, ranges, and other gas
appliances.
2. Make service connections, install service lines, read meters, and rotate scheduled and dead meters.
3. Witness test of service and house lines and inspect for proper installation.
4. Operate associated data entry devices as required.
5. Responsible for bill collection and deposits.
6. Perform line walking, patrols transmission lines, request line locates, obtain easement and state/county permits.
7. Responsible for atmospheric corrosion survey, compensating index survey, public building inspections, changing charts,
hazardous piping, monitoring contract crews, and maintenance (mowing, painting, etc.)
8. Operate and maintains assigned vehicle and vehicle inventory in a neat and orderly manner.
9. Prepare all company documents and reports required by the work performed including, but not limited to time reports, service
calls, damage prevention forms, work orders, leak reports, material usage reports and vehicle reports.
9. Inspect company and consumer property for gas leakage and/or other faulty conditions and leave facilities in a safe condition.
10. Assigned general responsibilities in the service area and may be given specialty assignment such as Home Energy Audit,
welder, etc.
11. Assist in the planning of branch activities in the areas of customer service operations, maintenance, odorization, safety
procedures, merchandising and new business activities and is responsible for carrying out assigned duties in the areas in
accordance with the rules and regulations of the Kentucky Public Service Commission, other regulatory agencies and the
Company.
12. Assigned standby duty on a scheduled basis.
13. Perform other duties as may be required.

Basic Qualifications

EDUCATION:


High School or equivalent.


PROFESSIONAL CERTIFICATIONS:


Must obtain plastic fusion qualifications (training provided)


PREVIOUS EXPERIENCE


Experience in related work or duties preferred.


PUBLIC CONTACTS:


Existing and prospective customers, Kentucky Public Service Commission staff, builders and contractors.


OTHER JOB REQUIREMENTS:


Valid driver's license.

Strong customer service skills.

Ability to work well under pressure.

Ability to work effectively in a team fostered multi-tasking environment.


Must be able to frequently and routinely bend, stoop, dig, lift, pull and carry items occasionally exceeding 100 pounds and any other activity required during the customer service process.


May be subject to extreme temperatures, noise, wet and/or humid conditions, mechanical, electrical, gas exposure hazards, fumes, dusts, mists, gases and/or poor ventilation atmospheric conditions.


This is a safety sensitive position subject to random drug testing.

Essential Utilities and its subsidiaries, including Aqua, Delta, and Peoples Natural Gas, requires new hires to be fully vaccinated against COVID-19, where allowable under the law. To satisfy this requirement, new hires who received the one shot regimen of the Johnson & Johnson vaccine must receive the one dose shot prior to their first day of employment. Proof of vaccination must be provided on your first day of employment. For the two shot regimen of either Pfizer or Moderna, a new hire must have received at least one dose of the vaccine before their first day of employment. Proof of the second dose date must be received within the recommended timeline based on the manufacturer’s vaccine received. For example, for Moderna as soon as the 28 day period has elapsed and for Pfizer as soon as the 21 day period has elapsed. Failure to provide proof of your COVID-19 vaccination status will result in the termination of your employment with Essential Utilities including its subsidiaries Aqua, Delta and Peoples Natural Gas.

If you are unable to be fully vaccinated due to a medical or religious exemption, you will be required to apply for an exemption on your first day of employment with Essential Utilities. As part of the process, you will be required to provide information and/or documentation to Human Resources about the reason(s) you cannot be vaccinated. If your request for an exemption is not approved, then your employment may be terminated.
