  • Title of Position:Manufacturing Supervisor
  • Department:Manufacturing
  • Basic Purpose: Responsible for the supervision and daily direction of manufacturing personnel in extrusion, finish material pack out, raw material supply to extruders, and coordination with other departments. The specific goals and objectives are to run product at low scrap rates and produce a high quality product that is delivered to our customers.
  • Recommended Qualifications:
  • 1.) Education: Some High School preferred, High School Diploma or GED Equivalent
  • 2.) Experience: 2 years as an Extrusion Operator or experience in supervision
  • 3.) Special skills/Certifications: N/A
  • 4.) Physical Attributes: Ability to lift 50 lbs. and the ability to use stairs on a consistent basis

Job Duties:

1.) Effective utilization, necessary coverage, and training of all shift employees.

2.) Monitor employee compliance to shop rules and safety procedures.

3.) Document equipment or control problems in the work order tracking maintenance program (EMaint).

4.) Inform the maintenance department of equipment issues in a timely and accurate manner.

5.) Communicate material issues to lab, product engineers, and processing as necessary for quick correction.

6.) Ensure that all materials being used for extrusion recipes are correct.

7.) Monitor and instruct personnel of proper operation of equipment.

8.) Ensure that all employees are performing their jobs safely, correctly, and completely.

9.) Communicate product issues to manufacturing personnel so that they may be aware of these issues to ensure that customers receive a quality product.

10.) Make frequent rounds throughout the facility to monitor plant personnel and equipment effectiveness.

11.) Ensure that personnel are labeling boxes properly on finished material to ensure quality is adhered to from start to finish.

12.) Ensure that personnel are properly supported for comprehensive changeovers, including using other employees to assist from the production department, to reduce chance of injury and promote quality changeovers. Ensure that proper changeover procedures are followed and verified.

13.) Scrap identified properly.

14.) Reporting paperwork/computer programs are completed correctly.

15.) Ensure that cleaning is being completed by the end of the shift.

16.) Communicate to upper management about ideas, process improvements, or training recommendations.

17.) Resolve or apply good judgment toward labor issues that may arise within the facility. Any issues that are questionable, the Vice President of Engineering & Production should be contacted.

18.) Lead by example.

19.) Communicate using clear, simple, specific instructions. Raise expectations utilizing respect, praise, and positive reinforcement.
