The Materials Supervisor is responsible for supervising the material department associates in a manufacturing/industrial plant. They must ensure a safe, efficient, and orderly work environment while motivating the workforce to achieve company goals. Key qualifications include knowledge of JIT communication devices and MRP systems, along with supervisory experience in a manufacturing/industrial setting.
Responsibilities:
- Supervise material department associates on a daily basis.
- Maintain a safe, efficient, and orderly workplace.
- Establish professional relationships with all associates.
- Motivate the workforce to achieve company goals.
- Practice open and honest dialog with union members.
- Resolve issues before they escalate to the grievance stage.
- Monitor and record variables related to attendance policy.
- Facilitate change and work towards continuous improvement goals.
- Support key quality measurables such as inventory turns and premium freight.
- Maintain a clean and safe work environment.
- Champion assigned QMS elements.
- Implement successful job rotations approved by the management team.
- Uphold the principles of the Employee Charter and Corporate Constitution.
- Take responsibility for Employee Opinion Survey (EOS) results.
Requirements:
- High school diploma or GED.
- 3 years of materials experience.
- Knowledge of JIT communication devices and MRP systems.
- Proficiency in word processing, spreadsheets, database, and presentation software.
- CDL and forklift license required.
