The Materials Supervisor is responsible for supervising the material department associates in a manufacturing/industrial plant. They must ensure a safe, efficient, and orderly work environment while motivating the workforce to achieve company goals. Key qualifications include knowledge of JIT communication devices and MRP systems, along with supervisory experience in a manufacturing/industrial setting.

Responsibilities:

  • Supervise material department associates on a daily basis.
  • Maintain a safe, efficient, and orderly workplace.
  • Establish professional relationships with all associates.
  • Motivate the workforce to achieve company goals.
  • Practice open and honest dialog with union members.
  • Resolve issues before they escalate to the grievance stage.
  • Monitor and record variables related to attendance policy.
  • Facilitate change and work towards continuous improvement goals.
  • Support key quality measurables such as inventory turns and premium freight.
  • Maintain a clean and safe work environment.
  • Champion assigned QMS elements.
  • Implement successful job rotations approved by the management team.
  • Uphold the principles of the Employee Charter and Corporate Constitution.
  • Take responsibility for Employee Opinion Survey (EOS) results.

Requirements:

  • High school diploma or GED.
  • 3 years of materials experience.
  • Knowledge of JIT communication devices and MRP systems.
  • Proficiency in word processing, spreadsheets, database, and presentation software.
  • CDL and forklift license required.
