Ophthalmic Consultants of Boston (OCB) was established in 1969 to offer patients the highest quality eye care and laser/surgical treatment. Currently, our Billing Team in Plymouth is looking for a Medical Coder to join our very busy specialty practice. This position reviews the medical records to verify diagnosis and procedures performed. The Coder abstracts the information by using the appropriate coding classification system. Verifies codes for statistical and reimbursement purposes.

• Performs a complete chart review. Assigns ICD-10, CPT and HCPCS codes and Modifiers in accordance with coding and reimbursement guidelines.
• Assists in obtaining final diagnosis and contacting physicians for clarification of documentation when needed.
• Trains our clinic staff on the use of ICD-10 and/or CPT codes. Assists in training of new staff.
• Performs or assists with other duties assigned by the Coding Manager.
• Interpersonal skills -ability to communicate with all levels of leadership at OCB.
• Ensures legal compliance by following company policies, procedures, guidelines, as well as state and federal insurance regulations.
• Prepares reports by collecting, analyzing, and summarizing information.

Requirements:

• Working knowledge of ICD-10-CM, HCPCS and CPT coding system, LCD, DRG, APG, payment systems, medical terminology
• Covid Vaccine; must provide Vaccination card prior to start.
• Excellent organizational and communication skills.
• Working knowledge of computers required.
• Completion of coding certificate program required.
• College degree preferred.
