As a member of the research and development department, the research analyst will participate in new product development and process improvement projects; perform independent research; plans, designs and implements research projects to meet established targets and contributes to new product development and process improvement ideas

Accountabilities:

• Either independently or in collaboration with supervisor, determines and writes experimental designs, capturing all data necessary in the development of new products and process improvements.
• Performs shelf life/raw material evaluations, and assists in determining methodology of evaluating for new products and existing products.
• Manages the scale up and implementation of new and existing technologies to improve existing products and in the development of new products
• Provides training to quality and production on evaluation methods and details of new products and/or product improvements.
• Manages and maintains competitor study programs.
• Manages and participates in sensory and product tastings.
• Provides technical input and assist other team members both within R&D and cross-functionally in product and process developments
• Performs various clerical duties including compiling of data and data entry, data analysis (using statistical methods), recording of research procedures and results; collaborates on final report and recommendations with supervisor.
• Performs other duties as assigned.

Minimum Skills Required:

• 4-year College Degree in related field (Food Science, Agribusiness) from an accredited institution.
• 5 years minimum product development experience.
• Knowledge of laboratory procedures and sensory science and applications,
• Strong verbal and written communication skills.
• Ability to work independently and within a cross-functional team.
• Ability to follow oral and written instructions.
• Ability to tend to details.
• Ability to maintain records and inventories
• Knowledge of Microsoft Office programs (i.e. Word, Excel, PowerPoint, TEAMs, Outlook, etc.).

Preferred:

• Knowledge of the fresh cut industry.
• Experience with statistical methods and analysis
• Experience with the product development process
