- Education: Must possess high school diploma or equivalent.
- Training and Experience: Healthcare experience highly preferred. Working knowledge and understanding of insurance.
- Additional Requirements. Excellent communication skills and a professional demeanor is needed. Detail oriented and possess management skills in order to manage multiple priorities in a fast paced environment. Must be available to work flexible hours including weekends. Maybe required to work occasional overtime.
Description:
Essential Functions: The Patient Account Representative will be responsible for accurate and timely patient registration, charge posting, cash posting and billing functions. The representative will provide exceptional customer service to physicians, patients and family members. Position Responsibilities: Provide courteous and accurate patient and hospital information with way finding instructions for patients, families, visitors and ancillary areas. Perform patient registration and insurance verification, ensuring collection of critical data necessary for proper patient identification and billing. Identify and update patient demographic information on HMH systems as defined by departmental policy and procedures. Obtain Insurance Card copies and validate insurance information via electronic medical record, transfer information or insurance eligibility tool. Prepare documents for imaging/scanning into electronic patient record. Explain processes and required forms to patients prior to securing signatures and ensure that documents are properly signed and witnessed as required. Maintain and update daily census reports for accuracy and communicate any changes/edits within the hospital departments. Assist with patient account resolutions pertaining to patient balances. Promptly, politely and professionally answer telephone calls using scripted language in a friendly and helpful manner. Collect upfront collections, co-payments and patient balances according to HMH financial policy. Cash posting of upfront collections, co-payments and patient balance receipts. Complete mandatory training assigned by the Revenue Cycle Supervisor or the Education Department of the hospital in a timely manner. Stay current on hospital policies and procedures such as Safety Policy, Emergency Preparedness Plan, support ticketing, HIPAA & Compliance and the hospital mission and vision statements. Participate as a team member within Business Office and hospital wide. Assist the Business Office with other office duties as assigned by the Revenue Cycle Supervisor.

Pay: $13.50 - $19.44 per hour
