Gateways Hospital and Mental Health Center located in Los Angeles, is a non-profit organization that provides an array of comprehensive mental health services for Children, Adolescents, Transitional Aged Youth, and Adults suffering from mental illness in the Greater Los Angeles area. The organization consists of a standalone fifty five (55) bed hospital and six outlying outpatient facilities that have anywhere from fourteen (14) beds to one hundred and thirty four (134) beds.

Design, implement and evaluate programs based on assessment findings that meet the learning needs of the staff, health needs of the consumer, and goals of the department.

Minimum Experience Required*

• Knowledge of behavior modification approach
• Experience with involuntary patients
• Experience seclusion and restraints, or Management of Aggressive Behavior (M.O.A.B)
• One year experience as Registered Nurse

Minimum Education Required

• Associates Degree

• BSN preferred

Essential Skills

• Ability to communicate effectively in English both verbally and in writing
• Proven ability to work with adolescent and adult patients
• Operate selected equipment.
• Possesses knowledge of current trends in psychiatric patient care, management theories, nursing acuities and therapeutic milieu, Patient Rights, and Title 22/A.O.A requirements
• High degree of inter-personal skills, communication, and leadership, along with management skills in nursing, including organizing and staffing P.A.’s, M.H.A.’s, L.V.N.’s and L.P.T.’s.
• Understanding of individual, group, and family psychotherapy
• Basic physical assessment skills

Physical Strength

• Light work: able to lift a maximum of 25 pounds and occasional exertion
• Heavy work: restrain patients
