Summary:

As a member of the Academic House Team and Home Office, the Student Development Compliance Coordinator (SDCC) is responsible for ensuring that special education data and other relevant data that is utilized by the Student Development Team is accurate, consistent and compliant. The SDCC assists the Director of Student Development (DSD) to support a team of special education teachers across the network, and where appropriate, collaborates with the internal and external stakeholders and school leaders to support the attainment of clean, accurate data that supports the goals of the network and department.

Duties and Responsibilities:

Employee’s duties and responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the following:

  • Helps to design and develop special education data reports and reporting structures, such as dashboards or other visualizations, that are easy for a variety of audiences to understand.
  • Creates K-12 Student Development procedures and professional development opportunities to benefit the network of schools.
  • Collaborates with the DSD to respond and address the roadblocks to the attainment of student outcomes through targeted resources and PD.
  • Ensures that special education data and other relevant data that is utilized by the department is accurate, consistent and compliant.
  • Complies with data security protocols and other business rules and policies.
  • Proactively identifies and resolves potential discrepancies or anomalies in the data and responds to stakeholder questions and concerns.
  • Responds to requests for special education data from internal and external stakeholders in an accurate, effective, and timely manner, and coordinates with stakeholders to clarify expectations and timelines.
  • Helps to support data systems by providing training and technical assistance and creating and/or maintaining user guides.
  • Collaborates with all internal and external stakeholders, including WRESA and MacroConnect
  • Builds relationships with various teams to drive collaboration and project success.
  • Protects confidentiality of student, staff, and organizational data, using discretion when sharing any such information within legal confines;
  • Adheres to federal statutes and regulations, Michigan school law, State Board of Education rules and regulations, Detroit 90/90 policies and procedures, and contractual obligations; and
  • Perform any duties and responsibilities that are within the scope of employment, as assigned by the position’s supervisor, and not otherwise prohibited by law or regulation.

Education/Experience:

  • Holds a valid Michigan teaching certificate from an accredited educational program in the field of special education;
  • Strong communication skills, verbal and written;
  • Bachelor's degree and two to four years of related work experience.
  • Master's degree preferred.
  • Previous experience in special education, preferably at the district level
  • Experience with data collection and analysis.
  • Excellent interpersonal and written communication skills, including a demonstrated ability to clearly communicate complex information to a variety of audiences.
  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy of data and information.
  • Previous experience and fluency in a programming language or software packages
  • Previous experience using spreadsheet software, Google Suite software
