Christ Church Preschool-The Growing Place offers the WV PreK program through a collaborative partnership with Kanawha County Schools. The Pre-K teacher must be a warm, sensitive, and mature individual who relates well to children and adults, shares a passion for teaching, and is committed to the mission and program goals of Christ Church Preschool-The Growing Place and Kanawha County Schools.

Schedule:

Monday-Thursday 7:30am - 3:30pm

Friday 8:00am - 12:00pm

General Qualifications:

· Possess a Bachelor’s degree in Early Childhood Education or related field with a minimum overall GPA of 2.5

· Submit to a state and federal criminal background check with fingerprinting prior to employment (updated every 5 years).

· Submit authorization for WV DHHR Child Protective Services Record Check prior to employment.

· Have a health assessment including vision and hearing screening completed by a physician within 30 days of employment (updated every 2 years).

· Complete a TB Risk Assessment or obtain a negative result from a chest x-ray or TB test using the Mantoux method.

· Maintain current certification in CPR and First Aid.

· Register on the West Virginia STARS Career Pathway and attend eighteen (18) hours of STARS approved training annually with six (6) of those hours related to children with special needs.

· Attend Child Abuse and Neglect training as required by WV Child Care Licensing Regulations.

· Complete all necessary paperwork, training, and courses necessary to obtain a Permanent Authorization certificate for teaching in a collaborative Pre-K site.

Duties and Responsibilities:

· Prepare weekly lesson plans with individualization in accordance with Creative Curriculum/Study Starters and including links to the Early Learning Standards Framework.

· Plan with and coordinate the activities of the classroom aide and/or volunteers.

· Implement the curriculum including PATHS, Growing Up Wild, and Minds-in-Motion daily and Creative Curriculum Study Starters.

· Input student observations on PSteps using anecdotal notes, photos, videos, and children’s work as well as links to the Early Learning Standards Framework.

· Communicate daily with parents/guardians regarding their child’s progress and activities.

· Participate in student-parent orientation at the beginning of the year.

· Conduct Parent-Teacher conferences two (2) times per year.

· Collaborate with Kanawha County Schools Education Managers, Social Workers, Nurses, Psychologists and Speech Therapists as needed and required.

· Maintain a clean, safe, orderly classroom using the Health & Safety Checklist and ECERS-3 as a guide.

· Attend staff meetings, pre-service training, monthly PLC meetings, the annual Transition to Kindergarten meeting, and any other training deemed necessary or required by the Preschool Director or Kanawha County Schools.

· Use age-appropriate guidance and positive behavior support techniques as outlined in the policies of Christ Church Preschool-The Growing Place and Kanawha County Schools.

· Complete assessments of children such as Brigance, ELRS, and Transition to Kindergarten Reports according to the guidelines established by Kanawha County Schools.
